Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: A care plan does not include the course of action recommended by health care professionals for a child requiring additional support. Care plan indicates 'as needed'.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plans provide indication of what staff need to look out for in terms of signs and symptoms in order to appropriately respond with the required care and support.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 7 children with 1 staff and a practicum student present.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and the Licensee is required to provide a written response to Licensing by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
- Valid CRC/s are available and some renewal dates are coming up for certification to be aware of
- Active Play promotion and increased outdoor play on a daily basis
- Checklists for all staff documentation
- Care plans and required information (see violations section)
- Lead in the water
- Emergency supplies for the facility
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
