Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: Licensing reviewed 12 children's files and of those, 2 files were not current. These files contained information relevant when first registered several years ago and did not contain current information pertaining to the child's care preferences.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a system is in place to update existing enrolled children's files on a regular basis.

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there were 20 children and 5 staff present. All 3 programs were in operation at the time of inspection.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to provide a corrective action plan by April 12th 2019
Licensing officer will review and monitor the corrective action plan.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
- Promoting Active Play in the program
- Temporary Placements
- Active Supervision at all times when using particular equipment and on field trips
- Policies around immunization/business practices
