Introduction

This was an unscheduled Routine Inspection for the purpose of inspecting the premise for compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: -Items which had been previously stored in the attic had been removed at the School District's instruction, and were stored in the third classroom which was not in use. Items stored in the room prevented use of the licensed space. Manager stated there was a plan in place for the School District staff to remove the items.
-In the bathroom there was an area next to the shower stall, and sink where drywall compound, and glue where the trim was removed, accessible to children. Manager stated the School District would be covering the stall, and fixing this area.

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 12 children, 2 staff and the manager on site.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The following was discussed
Discussed with staff on site that if children's lunches are stored in the fridge, there should be a thermometer in the fridge to ensure the temperature of the fridge remains below 4 degrees Celsius.
Storage of items in a bathroom stall was accessible to children. Manager stated the doors will be latched to prevent access.
