Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following:
-Blind cords are accessible to children
-Nails/screws are accessible to children in the outdoor play area
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed fire extinguisher not annually serviced.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there is an emergency plan that sets our procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

MEDICATION: 16080 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care,
Observation: Upon inspection of registration forms, a child with an indicated medical condition did not have a care plan. The Manager was unable to verbally explain steps on how to respond to the child.
Corrective Action(s): The Manager explained that she will follow up with the child's parents.

At the inspection dated February 26, 2024 there were 7 children 1 staff present, and a volunteer present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
