Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.
A Covid-19 risk screening was completed prior to attending the facility.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: 1 of 4 employee files reviewed did not contain a criminal record check addressed to the facility. The employee had a criminal record check addressed to another facility.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that each person employed has a criminal record check addressed to the facility.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: 1 of 4 employee files reviewed did not contain evidence of compliance with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure each employee has evidence of immunization.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated November 2, 2020 there were 11 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection The above contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool and a Covid-19 Infection Control Assessment was completed and a copy provided. This inspection and the risk assessment were written off site and a copy was provided to the facility.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Increased sanitization procedures
· Facility cleaning supplies and products
· COVID-19 prevention strategies were reviewed and discussed.
· Worksafe requirements
