Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspection for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: Licensing observed that managers name was not posted in the facility
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place in the facility

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: Licensing observed diaper routine, where a staff was using 1 glove to change a diaper but did not wash their hands after. Nor was the child's hands washed after.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that health practices are conducted to ensure a hygenic diapering routine

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 7 children and 2 staff present. The manager was absent. Licensing conducted a walk through of the entire facility
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer as indicated above. The Licensing Officer will review the response.
As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation. This is used to determine inspection frequency.
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the delegated staff and written on site. . A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager and a hard copy mailed to the facility.
The following was discussed;
- Ensuring spray bottles identify their contents
- Posted staff records reflect consistently in files
Licensing officer's business card was provided.
