Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Hand washing sink did not have single-use paper towels adjacent to the sink, the dispenser was too far and not easily accessible. Staff are unable to dry their hands properly
Corrective Action(s): Place paper towels, or install a paper towel dispenser beside the hand sink and ensure there is always a supply of paper towels present. During the inspection, staff placed paper towels beside the hand washing sink.

103 - Failure to hold a valid permit while operating a food service establishment [s. 8(1)]
Observation: Permit decal expired (Mar. 31/22), premises has failed to pay the yearly permit fees. Hand delivered the outstanding permit fees letter.
Corrective Action(s): Immediately pay the permit fees. Failure to do so will result in closure of the premises until payment is received in full.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Observed fruit/drain flies in the sink basins and below the hand washing sink facing the customers (beside the glasswasher).
Corrective Action(s): 1) Remove all food debris from sink basins to eliminate food sources for the flies.
2) Wash all surfaces and sink basins with hot water and soap every night before leaving.
3) Have the drains treated with a special cleaning foam, by your pest control company. The flies could be breeding along the inner sides of the waste pipes.

306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation: 1) The basins of sinks, and the exterior surfaces of sinks, and the undersides of sinks were sticky and/or had food debris accumulated on it. This will attract and harbor pests (drain/fruit flies).
2) There were old wedges of limes and lemons, and straws in sink basin and glasswasher. This will attract pests.
Corrective Action(s): 1) Wash the mentioned areas with hot water and soap. Ensure this is being done at the end of every shift.
2) Discard all food and straws at the end of each night to eliminate any food sources.

Comments

A routine inspection was completed, the following observations were made:
- Cooler was 2C; thermometer present; and temps recorded 2x daily.
- Hand sinks stocked with liquid soap, and running hot and cold water.
- All foods stored in food grade containers; covered; labeled; date coded; and foods stored 6" off the floor on shelves, racks and platforms.
- Quats sanitizer had 200ppm strength. Good.
- Glasswasher had [I2] of 12.5ppm. Good.
- FoodSafe certified staff present.
- General sanitation level is satisfactory. Improvement needed in the mentioned areas.
- No expired foods in used or for sale.
