Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: The following items require addressing:
-Refrigerator thermometer is not working, unable to determine the storage temperature of children's food items
-Garden hose must be removed/secured after each use
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the above items are address to ensure a healthy and safe environment at all times

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Review of the recording system for fire drills revealed that a fire drill for August was not recorded, therefore unable to confirm if a fire drill was practised with the children in care
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire drills are practised and recorded monthly

Comments

At the inspection dated September 12, 2023 there were 4 children and 1 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention were identified. The Licensee/Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. For this inspection the contents of the Facility Inspection Report and Risk Assessment were discussed and provided to the Licensee and/or Manager while on site.
