Introduction

An unscheduled/scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: During the routine inspection licensing observed that the change mat in the infant room had a tear in it. While on site manager has put in a request for a new change mat.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that change mat is in good repair.

Comments

At the inspection dated November 16, 2023 there were 41 children, 11 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following conversation was had:
- Licensing noted in the communication book a note regarding a child who was displaying challenging behaviour on several dates. A conversation was had with the manager and it was recommended that a care plan is created in collaboration with the child's parents.
- Few care plans were in place for children who require extra support. It was recommended that the date when plan was signed be added to the care plan form. This has been accomplished while licensing was on site.
