Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: Licensing reviewed the Manager file and observed it was missing the following:
- Resume
- Character references
- Certificate validation
Manager said she had recently used some documents to copy and forgot to put back
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all records are available for review.

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there was 1 child and the Licensee on site.
Licensing reviewed the facility’s COVID-19 prevention strategies

At this inspection the above contraventions were cited and the Licensee is required to respond with a compliance plan by the date below. Licensing will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
- Active Play and outdoor play
- Hygiene and sanitization practices
- Use of minor incident log book
- Recommending child photos are available as a hard copy
- Emergency evacuation requirements
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
