Observation: The front entrance door did not close properly and gets stuck leaving a gap, which is a potential entry point for pests.
Corrective Action(s): Fix the entrance door so that it closes properly after customers enter the restaurant. The manager mentioned that they would fix this issue by next Tuesday (August 8, 2017). Contact the area Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health to provide an update next week.

308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation: The seal of a small cooler was not in good working order as it was breaking near the bottom. The manager mentioned that they had a new seal on order. Note: The cooler temperature was at or below 40 degrees F / 4 degrees C.
Corrective Action(s): Replace the seal of the cooler; Correct within 1 month.

Comments

Permit to operate was posted in a conspicuous location.
Handsinks were supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and paper towels.
Walk-in-cooler and other coolers were at or below 40 degrees F (4 degrees C).
Walk-in-freezer was at or below 0 degrees F (-18 degrees C).
Hot-held food was at or above 140 degrees F (60 degrees C).
Temperature records were being maintained.
Dishwasher final rinse temperature at the plate was 71 degrees C or higher.
200 ppm QUATS sanitizer was available in the buckets with wiping cloths.
Ice scoops and ice scoop containers are washed and sanitized every 2 hours according to the Manager.
Ice machine was in a clean condition at the time of inspection.
No signs of recent pest activity were observed at the time of inspection.
NOTE: It was discussed with the Manager that FOODSAFE certificates issued prior to July 29, 2013 will expire July 29, 2018. Ensure that staff and the operator maintain valid FOODSAFE training and/or an equivalent course.
