Introduction

A follow up inspection to the routine inspection conducted on January 28, 2020; facility inspection report #SMOY-BL9PYR was conducted .

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: During the inspection of the outdoor play area Licensing saw multiple plants that had been pruned and leaving sharp, pointed branches. The Licensee said the plants were pruned on the weekend and Licensing explained that due to the ages of the children in care there is the potential a child may fall into the plant and have the sharp ends cause a serious injury.
Corrective Action(s): The Licensee must make the plants inaccessible to the children to prevent a branch from injuring a child. Licensing and the Licensee discussed ways in which to correct this item.

Date to be Corrected: 22 June 2020. The Licensee will send a picture of the plants to Licensing on or before this date.

Comments

Licensing provided to and reviewed with the Licensee the Fraser Health Resource Package for Childcare Facilities COVID 19 Prevention. The Licensee has not finished developing their WorkSafe BC safety plan. Once the plan is completed the Licensee will be posting it within the childcare facility.

During today's inspection Licensing identified one new contravention and it is listed above including any action required by the Licensee.

This report was reviewed with the Licensee at the time of the inspection and the report was completed off site (time spent: .25 hours). A copy of this report was sent to the Licensee.
