Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SWAR-AUXSAM have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry,
Observation: Three staff files were reviewed. One staff's ECE has not been verified through the early childhood education registry.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all staff files are complete.
Date to be Corrected: January 25, 2019.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Six children's file were reviewed. One child's file is missing an enrolment date.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children's files are complete.

Comments

Summary of inspection
At this inspection there were 42 children and 7 staff present. The facility Manager was also on site. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The facility is required to take corrective action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by January 28, 2019. The Licensing officer will email a Child Care Links Licensing Checklist and a sanitizing document as requested by staff during today's visit. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
