Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
Risk screening was conducted prior to the inspection.
The following areas were reviewed for compliance:
- Licensing
- Staffing
- Physical Facility
- Care and supervision
- Hygiene practices
- Program
- Child emergency records
- Reporting
- Care plans/medication

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there were 2 children and the Licensee present.
7 children are currently enrolled.
Licensing didn't conduct a full walk through of the whole home due to Covid-19 prevention.

Licensing reviewed the facility’s COVID-19 prevention strategies and noted the following:
- Health and safety system in place in response to Pandemic following the Provincial Health Officer guidelines
- Low enrolment due to parents keeping children at home during pandemic
- Transfer of care process changes to ensure health and safety of all
- Emergency kits recently updated

At this inspection no contraventions were identified.
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
- Requirements of Temporary Placements
- Reportable Incident requirements and when to report. Reporting to Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Active Play throughout the day is occurring in a protected area
- Recommended ensuring emergency contact viability for all children in discussion with families
- To remove all sand play/water play and shared tactile play equipment to ensure health and safety

Facility has been receiving Licensing Officer’s emails.
