At this inspection dated June 18, 2020 there were 7 children and 6 staff present. Manager was on-site and assisted LO with today's inspection. At this inspection no contraventions were identified. Therefore a written response is not required. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. This inspection report was completed off site and emailed along with the Risk Assessment to the facility on June 19, 2020.
LO observed and discussed the following with Manager on-site:
- Cleaning and Disinfecting Solutions: to refer to provided resource from BC Ministry of Health, re: cleaning and disinfectants for public settings. To properly measure and mix the solutions, i.e. 10 ml bleach to 990 ml water. All cleaning spray bottles should be labelled for safer cleaning/disinfecting practice. When using store bought cleaning products, please follow the manufacturer's instructions
-Sunscreen: safe and hygienic sunscreen application must be practiced with children, i.e. hand washing in between each application, in order to prevent the spread of germs
-Continue to monitor and maintain proper sanitization for all high-touch surfaces, toys and equipment including any soft and porous materials used in the facility; such items still need to be properly cleaned and disinfected by laundering in a washing machine with hot water and dry in a clothes dryer on a hot cycle if children are using them
- Fire Extinguisher: manager is aware of upcoming service date. Fire extinguisher must be annually inspected and tagged by a certified technician
- First Aid Kit: to remove any expired items with DIN #; a further discussion was had about requiring parent’s permission before using any items with DIN # on children. Mild soap and water can be used to clean any minor cut and/or scrape. Manager will be replenishing the supplies for all programs
- Care Plans and Medication: manager is aware of children's care plan review date and medication expiry dates for all returning children
-Sleeping Areas: to always keep and maintain the sleeping area/arrangements in a clean and sanitary manner, i.e. blanket and sheets for children should not be touching each other and must be laundered regularly ( at least once a week, or more often if soiled or visibly dirty)
- Manager's name: this information should be posted in a prominent place within the facility
- Grass in toddler side: grassy outdoor area needs maintenance for clean and even ground surface
